Google Hummingbird is the new Google algorithm by algorithm. September 27, 2013. Google launched a new "Hummingbird" algorithm, claiming that Google search can be a more human way to cooperate with users and provide a more direct answer.

In particular, Google said that Hummingbird is spending extra attention to each expression in a question, guaranteeing that the whole question and  the whole phrase or discussion or significance — is taken into consideration, rather than particular conditions. The objective is that webpages related the significance do better, rather than webpages related just a few conditions.

Does this indicate SEO is dead?
No, SEO is not yet again dead. In fact, Google’s saying there’s nothing new or different SEOs or publishers need to worry about. Guidance remains the same, it says: have original, high-quality content. Hummingbird just allows Google to process them hopefully better ways.

You need to understand your prospect’s possible intents

That is what Google is trying to do. They are trying to understand the human need, and provide that person with what they need.

Semantic relevance is the new king

We used to speak about content being king, and that in some sense is still true, but it is becoming more complex than that now.

You now need to think about content that truly addresses specific wants and needs. Does your content communicate relevance to a specific want or need?

You need to understand your prospect’s possible intents

That is what Google is trying to do. They are trying to understand the human need, and provide that person with what they need.

the who, where, when, what and how of intent:

  • Who is searching – based on personalization and prior behavior.
  • Where they're searching from – location and locality of query.
  • When the search is happening – time of day, seasonality, and dayparting.
  • What is the search being conducted on – desktop, mobile, tablet, or emerging platforms.
  • How the search query is formed – conversational aspects of the user's question.

Will Google make the long tail of search go away?

Not really. Some of the aspects that trigger long tail type search results may actually be inferred by Google rather than contained in the query.

Will keywords go away?

Not entirely. The language you use is a key part of a semantic analysis of your content.
